Track Season #SOLC15 - 3/12

I always forget every year how long (and how sunny) track meets are! My feet ache, my shoulders hurt, my throat is raw. All of the hopping around and "GO BEKKA, KICK IT IN TY, GO GET EM KALEB!" has tuckered me out, just a bit. And yet, I cant calm down enough to sleep!
In all the excitement of the day and the reliving of every hand off, each throw, the close calls, the wins and losses by seconds or inches, I almost forgot to write!

The best slice of my day was not having ALL of my throwers place, or free lunch.  The best moment was my student (turned mile runner) getting her PR. Before the race she came up and gave me a huge hug. "I'm so nervous!  What if I get last? "H" got last in the last meet and she got yelled at. What if I lose??"

Bekka. You got this. Where do you need me? Back stretch: 20-50 yardline, 3rd lap. Got it.
She ran her first varsity mile AND a personal best at 6:48!  The smile on her face as she hugged her parents after crossing the finish line was perfect.  I could not be more proud of my sweet little freshman.

I'm sorry this is not more detailed or eloquent, but its the best I have for tonight. Love you, slicers!

  1. I think writers share and not every piece has to be your best but I could sense your moment of joy today and that is what matters.

  2. How wonderful for you and for Bekka! Love the contrast between her pre-run worries and then getting her PR!
